Things You've Taught Me

Lyla, you continue to teach me things. Today I learned something wonderful.

We went to your first concert. Bob Dylan. We had third row center seats. But some snotty lady didn't like toddlers. She was ruining the fun. Seriously ruining it. So we headed to leave. But your Mama talked to someone and got us seats in the back. We couldn't see much. But you know what? You found a friend. And you and your friend and the parents all danced to Dylan in the back. Everyone smiled. Everyone played. Everyone was happy. You and your friend reminded us all that it's often not so much that one has to be close to the fire to enjoy the party. Rather, it's about what one does with the sparks they receive. Sharing good times with good folks in the back back beats grouchy folks in the front any day. Thanks kiddo. I look forward to dancing at more concerts together.

Love, Papa
